Year 6 2017 - 2018

Mr Harkin

On Wednesday 1st November, two firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire Service came into school to talk to Year 6 about fire safety  - especially around bonfire night. All children have a right to be kept safe (Article 19 of the UNCRC) and the firefighters talked about wearing suitable clothes (and not tucking trousers into wellies or boots) when attending bonfires; putting sparklers in buckets of water or sand to completely extinguish them; and not going back to a lit firework if it hasn't gone off. The firefighters reminded us that it is illiegal for fireworks to be sold to under 18s.
